On 1st April Primate will be launching Tendr, a procurement platform designed to match suppliers to buyers on the only metric that matters - initial impressions.
“We all know public tendering is a total waste of time unless you play golf with the Head of Procurement,” Managing Partner, Rebecca McIntyre-Smith, commented. “So all we did was strip back the process to focus on the attractiveness of the parties involved. You could say that we’re giving the power back to the people. The really, really, ridiculously good looking people, that is.”
Less is more
A lot of time was spent refining and decluttering the UI to create an intuitive user experience.
“A streamlined UI was key to the success of the app’s design,” Steve Brown, Primate’s Creative Director explains. “Everything has been paired back, drawing attention to the only two things that actually matter: price and cover photo.”
When quizzed on the reasoning behind this, Steve replied, “After a detailed research phase, involving dozens of agencies and public organisations, we discovered that no one bothers reading tender documents anyway.”

Initially, Managing Partner Gordon McLachlan was concerned about the similarities to a popular dating app.
“We had a lot of beta feedback that Tendr was ripping off another app but, honestly, I just don’t see it,” Gordon said. “Aside from allowing users to upload carefully curated photos from ten years ago and providing them the opportunity to be screwed, it’s absolutely nothing like Tinder.”
“I’ve had more luck on this than on Tinder” - ex-Primate employee
